Where the records come from, what is missing, and how to have one corrected.
Every record here was read off a public page published by a state society, one society at a time. Each chapter page names the page its record came from and the date it was read, so you can check us against the source rather than take our word for it.
Nothing was inferred. Where a society publishes a chapter name and no location, the location is empty. Where it publishes a county rather than a city, the record says the county. An empty field means we did not find the answer, not that there is no answer.
Twenty six of the fifty one societies are represented. The other twenty five are missing for three different reasons, and the difference matters.
Four societies refused the request outright. Nothing is known about their chapter lists, and no attempt was made to get around the refusal.
Twelve publish a site where no chapter list could be found. That is a statement about what we found, not about what exists. A list behind a members area, or on a page we did not reach, would look the same from outside.
Nine publish a list that is not text. Some embed a map, some link a PDF. The information is public and we simply could not read it in a form we could check.
If your chapter is listed wrongly, or is missing, tell us and we will fix the record. A chapter that wants to hold its own entry will be able to, and that is deliberately not built yet, because claiming a record needs a way to prove the claim.
