Using this site means accepting what is written here. It is written to be read, so it is short and says what it means.
Huzzah is published by Indian Lakes Marketing LLC, a business registered in Indiana. It is a business rather than a charity or a society, and nothing given to it is tax deductible.
The library and the chapter directory are free to read and stay free. They do not require an account and they are not part of what membership buys.
Membership pays for the member side: your profile, your ancestor records, the member directory, and the civic tools as they open.
Giving is separate from membership. A gift buys no tier, no badge, no feature, and changes nothing about any account.
Membership is not open yet and nothing can be bought here today. When it opens, these are the terms it will run on.
Membership is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly, through Stripe. The rate you join at is the rate you keep for as long as you keep the membership, whatever the price becomes later. There is no deadline on that and no limited number of places.
You will be able to cancel from your own account page, in one step, without writing to anyone. Cancelling stops the next payment and leaves the membership running until the end of the period already paid for. We do not make you ask twice.
A monthly membership is not refunded for part of a month. An annual membership cancelled within the first thirty days is refunded in full. After thirty days an annual membership runs to the end of the year and is not refunded in part.
If the price changes, existing members keep the rate they joined at. If that ever ceases to be true, it will be said on the membership page before it takes effect, not afterwards.
What you record about a patriot ancestor is your claim, not our finding. We do not check it, we do not approve it, and we do not hold documentation for it. An SAR reference number entered in that field is a number you typed.
A profile on this site is not evidence of descent and is not accepted as evidence by anyone. If you need a lineage proven, that is done by a hereditary society through its own process, not here.
Huzzah is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the National Society Sons of the American Revolution or any state society or chapter. Members and chapters of the SAR are welcome here, and membership here confers no standing there.
Chapter records are read from pages the state societies publish themselves. Each record names the page it came from and the date it was read, and the directory says plainly how many societies it covers and that it is incomplete.
A chapter that is listed wrongly, or is missing, can write to us and we will correct the record. Chapters cannot edit their own entries yet.
Do not post anything unlawful, threatening, or harassing. Do not impersonate another person. Do not upload other people’s private information, including information about living relatives who did not ask to be here.
Do not scrape the member directory. The library and the chapter directory are public and you are welcome to read them, but do not hammer the site.
You keep ownership of what you write. By putting it here you give us permission to store it and to show it to whoever your visibility setting allows.
We can remove content and close accounts that break these terms. Where it is a judgement call rather than something plainly unlawful, we will say why. If we close a paid account without cause, we refund the unused part of the period.
You can have your own account deleted at any time by emailing us. What deletion removes is set out in the privacy policy.
The source texts are public domain. The headnotes, source notes and the arrangement of the library are ours. Quote them with attribution.
We try to be exact about what each document is and where it came from. If we have a date, a transcription or a provenance wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption or that it will be free of errors. Nothing here is legal, financial or genealogical advice.
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim relating to this site is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. If you have paid us nothing, that amount is nothing.
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and a change that affects what you are paying for will be said on the membership page as well.
